Addition By Double Column Method - For 4 Digit & 4 Number Addition Shortcuts

This trick is used to add big numbers which are greater than two digits.

Let’s study this trick by using an example.
Let’s assume we want to add 335 and 577.

First step is to divide these numbers in double column.
 3     3 5
 5     7 7


Second step is  add right most column.
Here 35 + 77. So we can add it using 2 digit number addition trick like 35 + (70 + 7)

This gives us 105 + 7.  And finally answer 112.
But this is for 2 column (two digits) only.


Tird Step is Left most ‘1’ is carried forward and ‘12’ is last two digits of the answer.
So now we have
